Vera Mae Cole, age 81, passed away peacefully August 28, 2020.

Vera was born October 9, 1938 in West Point, Mississippi, the daughter of Barrett Strong Sr. and Cloteal Gladney.

Vera was an avid reader who enjoyed trivia and the arts. She was a talented cook and gardener. Vera was a proponent for education and adored her grandchildren.  She was an exemplary mother, wife and mother-in-law.

Surviving Vera are her beloved husband, Barrie Jon Cole Sr., who celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 18, 2020; children, Barrie (Tonya) Jon Cole Jr., Peter (Danielle) Christopher Cole Sr. and Christina (Selmar) Marie Golden; grandchildren, Ashley Cole, Matthew Cole, Christina Cole and Peter Cole Jr.; great-grandson, Tieren Stallings; siblings, Carolyn Ward, Ester Tyson and Barrett Strong Jr.  Sadly, Vera was preceded in death by her sister, Lessie Perry; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Vera will be laid to rest following a graveside ceremony at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Vera's memory are suggested to the Michigan Humane Society .
