Obituary

Dan A. Darnell, of Novi, formerly of Farmington, partner in the Farmington Hills Law Firm of MacLean, Proppe, MacLean and Darnell, entered eternal life on Tuesday morning, February 9, 2021.  He was 75.  Dan was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia in February, 2020, underwent a bone marrow transplant in July, and was hospitalized with complications since November.

Dan was born February 10, 1945, in Detroit, to Chester and Eleanore (Wegrzyn) Dembinski.  He married Beverly J. (Auberlin) on May 29, 1969, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Harper Woods.

Dan is a graduate of University of Detroit Law School and began his career at MacLean and Proppe as a clerk.  After earning his degree, he began his 50+ year affiliation with the firm, first as an attorney, then as partner.  He was highly regarded and respected for decades by clientele both in the Farmington Hills and Mt. Pleasant areas.

Dan held long-time memberships with the Farmington Elks, Walnut Creek Country Club, and the Michigan Oil and Gas Association.   May he rest in peace.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Beverly; his proud mother, Eleanore; devoted sons, Jason (Tara) and Christopher (Amy); cherished grandchildren, Mathias, Solana, Olivia, Addison, Griffin, Reese, and Emery; and his niece, Lyndsay (Kevin) Sullivan.  Sadly, he was preceded in death by his fathers, Chester Dembinski (WWII) and Chester Darnell (d. 2011), as well as his sister, Gail (Thomas Norton) (d. 2016).

The Darnell family will receive guests at the funeral home on Friday, February 12, from 2-8 pm.

Dan's funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, February 13, at 10:00 am (in state 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.

A procession to Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, will follow mass.

In lieu of customary remembrances, those who wish to further honor Dan's memory are invited to contribute to Karmanos Cancer Inst., St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.

A digital recording of Dan's funeral mass will be available for viewing by visiting this site later Saturday.

Kindly keep Dan and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
