Obituary

Winifred "Winny" Mary Maguire was born on March 25, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, and passed away on March 27, 2025, after a two-year battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

Winifred was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Pastucha) Watkins.

She was the loving wife of 56 years to John Maguire. They married on October 11, 1968, at St. Anselm's Church in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.

Winifred was the beloved mother of Lora Claypool (Thomas), Erin Thoma (Steven), and Elizabeth Giguere (Gary); and the cherished grandmother of Katie Thoma, Abigail Thoma, Brendan Thoma, Hannah Claypool, Caiden Giguere, Megan Thoma, Reagan Claypool, Logan Giguere, and Madison Thoma; dearest sister of William Watkins (Lee), Phyllis Gerdes (Doug), and Madalyn Kush (Jim); and sister-in-law to Michael Sevon (the late Mary Agnes). Winifred also cherished her relationships with her numerous nieces and nephews.

Winifred poured her heart into creating a warm and inviting home for her loved ones. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her nine grandchildren.

She was known for her caring nature, easygoing personality, and creative hobbies. She enjoyed arts and crafts—if you name it, she had tried it. She loved tending to her flower gardens, always adding new plants. Winifred also enjoyed nature trips with John and escaping to Florida in February.

She was a dedicated medical assistant for 35 years to Dr. David Rosenburg in West Bloomfield.

Winifred had a deep love for animals, especially her dogs over the years: Tara, Poppy, Max, Sammy, and Zoey.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
