William P. Richardson, age 82, passed peacefully away on November 11, 2023, at Trinity Health, in Livonia.

Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late William A. and Jane Richardson (Terry).

Bill was a devoted husband and loving father. He leaves behind a 59-year legacy of cherished marriage to his college sweetheart, Janet, whom he met at Albion College. Their remarkable journey included a cross-country trip in a 1965 Mustang convertible from Nova Scotia to Vancouver during their youth. Together, they raised two children, Douglas and Andrea, and were blessed with four grandchildren.

Bill earned his BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and had a distinguished 38-year career as the maintenance manager at Rouge Steel, an integral part of the Ford Motor Company. His unwavering dedication and passion for his work defined his professional life.

In his leisure time, Bill found joy in sailing, music, and photography. Torch Lake held a special place in his heart as his favorite vacation spot. Post-retirement, he and Janet created lasting memories on cruises, savoring the beauty of the world together.

In his last year, Bill was cared for by his devoted wife Jan. The Richardson family expresses profound gratitude to his dedicated caregiver, Lydia Harris, whose compassionate support brought comfort to him and his family. Bill will be remembered for his commitment to family, his industrious spirit, and the vibrant passions that enriched his life. May he rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet; dear children, Andrea Hume and Douglas (Susan) Richardson; kind and beautiful granddaughters, Lauren, Gabriella, Ava, and Angelina; brother, John (Claire) Richardson; nieces, Jane (Jeffery) Erhardt, and Laura (Paul) Rathkamp; and caring son-in-law, Richard Hume.
