Obituary

Walter, of Novi, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed into eternal life on Sept. 1, 2022, at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi.  He was 73 years old and seriously ill since last Friday.

Walter was born September 13, 1948, in Dearborn, to the late John Sr. and Catherine (Wnuk) Michalski.  He married Corinne M. (Malysz) on October 7, 1978, at St. Aidan Catholic Church in Livonia.

Walter, known by his family and friends as Walt or Wally, was a good Christian, devoted father, and husband of 43 years. He was a dedicated, hard working family man, and spent 34 years working for Marathon Oil Company. One of his most admirable qualities was his strong work ethic, and he instilled that into his two boys, Mark and Jim from a young age.

Walt's personality could light up a dark room and those who new him best would tell you their favorite thing about him was his sense of humor. He was always cracking jokes, was the life of every party, and always made sure your glass was full. Some of his favorite things in life were golfing, sipping on good bourbon, eating a delicious meal, and finding a good deal! He was a very generous man and would always put others before himself. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Walter was the beloved husband of 43 years to Corinne "Cori"; devoted father of Mark (Jennifer) and James (Sarah Guinot-Michalski); grandfather of Gabriella and Maxwell Michalski, Matthew Michalski, and Claire and Spencer Dorow; and brother of John Jr. (the late Josephine), Raymond (Judith), and Richard (Mary Lou) Michalski, and Joan (Richard) Kulp.

Visitation is planned for Wednesday, September 7th, from 5-8 pm, and Thursday, September 8th, from 2-8 pm, at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington.

A time of prayer and remembering is scheduled for Thursday evening at 7 pm.

Walter's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, September 9th, at 10:00 am (in state 9:30 am) Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.  The Most Reverend Walter Hurley will preside.
