Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Terri Bill, who departed from this world on October 18, 2024.

Born on January 3, 1948, in Detroit, Terri was a woman of unwavering strength, love, and kindness, whose impact on those around her will be deeply felt. Her legacy of love and resilience will be shared through stories for generations to come.

She was a devoted wife and soulmate to the late Peter Bill, with whom she shared a deeply rooted, lifelong bond. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Terri is survived by her beloved daughter, Patricia (husband Jason) Courtney AKA PJ, and her son, Jeremy Coote AKA J-Dub, both of whom held a special place in her heart. Affectionately called "Momma Lady" by her daughter and would melt when her son simply called her "Mom" and said, "I love you." Terri and Peter were a true blessing, rescuing PJ and J-Dub during their early teens and giving them a new lease on life, surrounded by unconditional love.

She is predeceased by her loving father, Thomas Bert Hatter, mother, Helen Mary Hatter, brother, Greg Hatter, and sister, Susan Effrick, whom she loved dearly and who now embraces her in Heaven. She is survived by her sister Karen (husband Skip) Fagg, and niece Lindsay Beneson, along with Alexandra and Alma Crowley.

Terri dedicated her career to the MEA, where she retired having built a lasting friendship with Elaine Tucker, a colleague she was fortunate to work alongside.  In retirement, her and their friend group traveled, saw shows/plays and led Swartz Creek Woman's Club in which Terri was inducted as an honorary member.

Those who knew Terri will remember her for her quirky spirit, keen intellect, selflessness, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. She was a lady of integrity, whose kindness, generosity and quick wit humor touched the lives of many.

Terri was a passionate reader that embraced life through family and interests. She loved shopping, traveling and cooking, especially during summers and holidays. She was a feisty lady that loved politics, jewelry, and wild clothes. Terri also found joy in being called Grandma from her beloved grandchildren, Tristan, Thayne, Terrick, Keira, Keigan, Tharren, Griffin, Liam, and now great grandson, Jameson Dean.

In her memory, we hold onto the lessons she taught us: to love fiercely, support family through anything, to never take for granted the time we have with one another, and you'll never know when you'll need a 5-in-1 gadget or any of the other interesting gifts that end up coming in handy. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in downtown Farmington on Saturday, November 2, from 10:00 am until the beginning of her 11:30 am Funeral Ceremony.  A procession to Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, will immediately follow.

May she rest peacefully in paradise with the love of her life.

In honor of Terri, her family asks that you consider making a donation to I Heart Dogs Animal Rescue .
