Obituary

T errance L. Abbott, age 64, of Livonia, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2024, while away on a work trip in Austin, Texas.

Terrance was born October 9, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Thomas Abbott and Janet Lee. He married Patricia Taylor on July 21, 1984, and was employed as a Service Manager with Car-O-Liner.

Reflection on Terry's life, it is evident that his greatest joy and source of pride came from his beloved family, Patty, Brandon, Andrew, Veronica, and Emily, whom he loved with all his heart.  His unconditional love and unwavering support for his sons, Brandon and Andrew, shone brightly through his eyes, celebrating their accomplishments and embodying a sense of fulfillment through their successes.  His love for animals also knew no bounds, as he cherished his pets with a passion that rivaled his love for any person.  He enjoyed nothing more than time as the racetrack with Abbott Motorsports and couldn't wait to welcome the newest crew member in May - his granddaughter.

Terry had a passion for racing unlike any other.  You know that saying "I work to live"?  Well, Terry lived to race.  He was a lifetime member of Waterford Hills Road Racing, longtime member of Oakland County Sportsman Club, and was heavily involved with Quarter Midgets of America.  He began his racing career at a very young age and continued to race through his adult life.  Once his boys were old enough to start racing, he hung up the helmet to help give them the successful racing careers they have.  He took his position as Abbott Motorsports Team Principal very seriously and celebrated each of the boys wins like they were his own.  In 2023, he joined the boys back on the track and could barely wait to start the 2024 racing season with AMS in Georgia.

Terry had a genuine nature that left a lasting impact on all that had the pleasure of knowing him, transforming acquaintances to lifelong friends.  His love for his motorcycle family and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children through his involvement as a founding member of Defenders of the Children, as testament to his kind-hearted spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others.  Terry's legacy of compassion and friendship will forever be treasured by those fortunate enough to have been touched by his friendly spirit.

Lastly, Terry cherished his position at Car-O-Liner.  He never felt that he worked a day in his life while employed with Car-O-Liner.  Terry single-handedly created an environment at work that felt like family.  He led his team with high expectations but his coworkers knew he always had their back.  His legacy will forever be remembered through the impact that he had on his workplace.

Terry is the beloved husband of Patty; loving father of Brandon (Veronica) Abbott and Andrew (Emily) Abbott; grandpa of a granddaughter on the way; cherished son of Janet Lee and Thomas Abbott; fond brother of Dennis (Annette) Abbott; half brother of Kimberly; step sister Michelle (Butch) Trembley; son-in-law of Russ and Sue Taylor; uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
