Sian D.
Yardley, (Sharon)
Nov 19, 1966 — Aug 24, 2026
Farmington Hills
A dignified and dedicated wife, mother, and friend, the life Sian led was rich in quality and joy She gave. She cared. She loved. She walked with intentionality and confidence in each footstep. Hers was a path that graced friends and family across the world. She will be dearly missed.
Sian Yardley (née Sharon Louden) passed away peacefully in her sleep with family after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer on August 24, 2026 in Farmington Hills.
Sian was born November 19, 1966 in London, England, the daughter of Mary Adele and Alexander Louden.
Sian grew up in the town of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom where she attended Aylesbury High School for Girls. She attended Loughborough Technological University in Leicestershire, where she earned a degree in Human Psychology. There she met Tony (Anthony) Yardley in 1988. They married in 1992 and a year later moved to America, building a new life together in Farmington Hills, Michigan. She received her Masters in Counseling from Oakland Community College after they moved to the US. From 2000-2011, she worked in the home raising three wonderful children.
As a mother, she was known to be cool in the crises, whether that was kids falling out of trees or off trampolines. She was confident and assured, having answers for almost all of life's questions. She always kept her house and classroom set up in the correctly organized way, walking through her life with structure and intentionality. Traditions mattered greatly, such as a Christmas light show, dinners at Applebee's, and family pizza and Star Wars Nights.
In her free time, Sian enjoyed traveling. From pre-college European adventures, to RV drives visiting the national parks, and many in between, she loved experiencing new cultures and lifestyles. She was also a lover of music and dance.
For well over the last decade, Sian worked at Covenant Baptist Preschool. An enthusiastic lead teacher who filled her Prekindergarten classroom with student-created art projects, she was adored by the children she taught and well loved and respected by her coworkers. They described her thoughtfulness and intentionality behind creative lesson planning and care for her students. Not only did she care greatly for her students and coworkers, but also for the community at large. She did so by volunteering in multiple ways: at Haven, a suicide hotline, at Faith Covenant Church teaching preschool Sunday School, and for all of her kids' swimming and soccer events.
Her capacity to care extended to dogs as well, fostering six and adopting one. Her philosophy was to give a home to any rescue dog that nobody else would adopt.
Loved by many, to get to know Sian was to be cared for by her.
She is survived by her spouse Tony Yardley, her children Jack Louden and his spouse Julia, Harry Yardson and his spouse Talia, and Louisa Yardley. Although oceans apart, Sian was deeply loved and will be missed by her family in the United Kingdom. She is survived by her brother Dean Louden and sister Carol Louden.
The Yardley family will receive guests Thursday, August 27, 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Pet Ownership Education Team.
A private funeral service will be held for Sian Saturday, August 29.
Please keep the Yardley family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time
