Obituary

Sally, of Farmington, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed into eternal life at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, on Friday, September 15, 2023, following a two-year battle with breast cancer. She was 75 years old.

Sally was born June 22, 1948, in Detroit, to the late Leonard and Clara (Anderson) Green. At age 20, she married her high school sweetheart Steve Miller on September 21, 1968, at Epiphany Catholic Church in Detroit. Sadly, Steve passed away on February 26, 2011, after 43 wonderful years of marriage.

When Sally wasn't at home raising her three wonderful children, Steve, Carrie, and Jeffery, she was working in classrooms for Farmington Public Schools as a parapro. During her time there, she made an impact on the lives of many, and was frequently stopped around town by students and families wanting to say hello.

Following her retirement, she continued to stay active in the community, working with Meals on Wheels for the Costick Center in Farmington Hills. Here, she made lots of wonderful friends, and enjoyed her time with the group both in and out of work, regularly meeting up for cards and other activities together.

Sally was a proud aunt to 10, but she was happiest for her six grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She cherished the time she spent with them, and always had ways to make them laugh or smile, whether it was board games and ice cream or one of the crafts she always had on hand for everyone to do all together. Holidays held some of her favorite traditions, and she always looked forward to carving pumpkins with them for Halloween and putting together their yearly egg hunt for Easter. As recently as last Thanksgiving, she still came prepared with a craft on hand for her great nieces.

She showed her love for her family in everything she did, and was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear for those who needed her. She loved to see her children and grandchildren succeed and helped in any way that she could, serving as room mom in her kids' elementary classrooms, Girl Scout troop leader for her daughter Carrie, and always being the number one fan when it came to sports.

She will be profoundly missed, and her absence will be deeply felt by many whose lives she impacted. As we say goodbye, let us remember the joy and light that she brought to those around her, and carry her influence in our hearts.

Sally is survived by three devoted children, Steve Miller, Carrie (Sean) Cahill, and Jeffrey (Jacqueline) Miller; six cherished grandchildren, Kyle Miller, Meagan Cahill, Andrew Miller, Matthew Miller, Cameron Cahill and Erin Cahill; siblings, Tom (Debbie) Green and Karen (Guy) Halbritter. In addition to her husband, Sally was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Pemberton.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home on Friday, September 22, from 2-8 pm.
