Ruth Sharon
Yuill
Jul 1, 1938 — Apr 8, 2026
Farmington Hills
Ruth Sharon Yuill, lovingly known as Mom, Mama, and Ruthie, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Ruth was born in Bryan, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherley and Ruby Fast; her siblings, Robert (Marcia) Fast and Lois (Al) Baker; and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie (Mike) Bennett, along with multiple nieces and nephews. Her roots reflected both German and Ashkenazi Jewish heritage, carrying forward a legacy of strength, resilience, and deep devotion to family that remained evident throughout her life.
She shared an early chapter of her life with her first love, Larry Wisman, with whom she raised her family and built the foundation of a life centered on love and devotion. She is survived by her children, Denise Rogers and Scott (Natalie) Wisman; her grandchildren, Heather (Lorn Jr.) Morden, Brittney Hendricks, Jannie Potvin-Duval, Krysten (Matt) Evans, and Tristan Wisman; and her great-grandchildren, Lorn Morden III, Zachary Morden, Luke Morden, and Harrison Hendricks.
She later shared her life with her beloved husband, Jim Yuill, and was preceded in death by him. Though life brought its share of changes, Ruth faced each chapter with grace, compassion, and an unwavering ability to forgive. She never held onto bitterness, choosing instead to lead with love.
Two loving family mergers have taken place, which include Gail (Roger) Langefeld, Juli Ziembowicz, and Lori (Mark) Seymour, along with multiple children and great-grandchildren.
Though her given name was Ruth, few called her that. To most, she was simply Mom or Mama—a role she embraced not only with her own children, but with anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She had a rare and extraordinary gift: the ability to make people feel instantly cared for, valued, and at home. Whether family, friend, or stranger, she welcomed all with warmth, kindness, and genuine love. She became, in some way, a mother to everyone.
Ruth spent many years working in customer service, where she became known not only for her dedication, but for the genuine care she showed to everyone she encountered. She had a natural ability to connect with people, and her kindness left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.
Ruth's love extended beyond people to the many golden retrievers she cherished so deeply. Her beloved Bud 2 will be laid to rest with her. She found great joy in time spent with family, shared dinners, and playing cards, and she expressed her creativity through a love of painting and drawing.
Above all, Ruth's greatest joy was her family. Denise's devotion and care—especially in Ruth's later years—were extraordinary and selfless beyond measure. She gave of herself fully, ensuring that her mother was surrounded with love, dignity, and compassion every step of the way. It is a reflection of the love Ruth gave so freely throughout her life.
Ruth will be remembered not for material accomplishments, but for the way she made people feel—safe, supported, and deeply loved. Her gentle spirit, quiet strength, sense of humor, and boundless kindness will live on in all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington, Michigan.
