Rosemary T.
Marsh
Nov 15, 1955 — Jun 1, 2025
"Rosie" passed into eternal life on the peaceful Sunday afternoon of June 1, 2025, at her home in Livonia, Michigan, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was 69.
Born on November 15, 1955, in Detroit, Rosie was a proud second-generation Maltese-American, whose heritage and faith were central to her life. The daughter of the late Charles and Mary Vella, she grew up on Campbell Street in a close-knit neighborhood that became the foundation for lifelong friendships and cherished memories. She married Darwin Marsh II on September 22, 1984, at St. Linus Church in Dearborn Heights.
A 1973 graduate of Holy Redeemer Catholic School, Rosie lived her faith through service and community. She worked for many years as a dedicated bookkeeper and business manager at St. Kenneth Parish in Plymouth, where she was more than an employee—she was a beloved member of the parish family.
Rosie was a woman of simple joys and deep connections. She loved writing poetry, vacationing "Up North" with her family, and playing Euchre with her church friends. Her laughter could often be heard during dice games at the kitchen table with her grandchildren and husband. Her heart remained tethered to Malta, which she visited often and spoke of with warmth and pride.
Diagnosed with lung cancer, Rosie faced her illness with the same grace, determination, and unwavering spirit that defined her life. She left this world wrapped in the love of those she held dearest.
Rosie is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Darwin Marsh. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children—Maria (Mychal) Graham, Sarah (Brandon Wilson) Marsh, Matthew Marsh, and Ronnie (Liz) Marsh—who were the joy of her heart. Her love multiplied with the births of her grandchildren—Charlie, Evelyn, Josephine, and Jack—who knew her best as their fun, doting Nanna. Rosie is also survived by her beloved siblings: Vicky (the late Tom) Grandy, Geralyn (Tom) Moore, JoAnne (Mike) Moore, and John (Theresa) Vella. She now joins in eternal rest her parents and her dear brother, Bobby Vella.
Family and friends may gather at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home for visitation on Thursday, June 5, from 2-8 pm. A time of prayer and remembrances is planned for 7:00 pm.
Rosemary's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, June 6, at 11:00 am (in state 10:00 am), at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Road in Plymouth.
Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
Memorial contributions are kindly suggested to the Father Solanus Guild or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Rosie will be remembered for her kindness, her deep faith, her sense of humor, and the fierce love she gave her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
