Obituary

Ron, of Port Hope, Michigan, and Sevierville, TN, and a former long-time Farmington Hills resident, peacefully passed into eternal life on Sunday evening, September 15, 2024, in Port Hope. He was 66 years old and in declining health since a cancer diagnosis on May 12th.  A true master of his craft, Ron owned and operated Ron's Plumbing, a respected business in Farmington Hills for over 40 years. His clients weren't just customers; many considered him family due to his trustworthiness, warmth, and the expert advice he was always happy to share.

Ron's infectious sense of humor and love for a good prank made him the life of any gathering. He was a true animal lover, and his playful teasing endeared him to many. Even after retiring six years ago, Ron remained incredibly active, always keeping busy with the things he loved most. His passion for cars was undeniable, especially for his prized '69 Chevelle and his recently acquired fighter-jet gray Mustang Mach 1.

Of his many accomplishments, Ron was most proud of his Master Plumber designation, earned early in his career, knowing he made not only himself proud, but also his father and those who loved him most.  He had a heart for adventure and loved traveling, often journeying between his homes on Lake Huron in Port Hope, Michigan and the beautiful mountains of Sevierville, Tennessee. His travels included visits to Maggie Valley, North Carolina, trips to Dollywood, leisurely outings to Frankenmuth, and cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway in Tennessee.  Dining at Paula Deen's restaurants was often a highlight of his travels.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in bass fishing and hunting, particularly for deer and pheasant. His love of storytelling was legendary; friends and family could always count on Ron to entertain with his stories. He had a natural gift for connecting with people, spending countless hours on the phone, catching up with loved ones, and sharing his many adventures.

Ron's Port Hope property, acquired in 1982 and housing a modest structure, needed a rebuild and Ron considered this project his "legacy project", or "final job" and a place his family could enjoy for generations.  Sadly, his diagnosis came two weeks into the construction, but Ron worked diligently through the permit process, as well as the plumbing, electrical and HVAC processes as not to leave its completion an overwhelming endeavor for Denise.  He truly left his mark on this home - literally with some personalization - on the property he hoped to enjoy one day. Not only on this property, but Ron seemed to leave his mark everywhere he went.  Family and friends alike would often remark on how he was the "get it done guy" and able to make things happen when no one else could.

A savvy investor since his youth, Ron was known for his successful stock tips, often helping others achieve financial success with his insightful advice. Above all, Ron was a kind and considerate husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His illness took him from this life far too soon, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 19 years, Denise; daughters, Shauna (Kevin) Frankowski and Jennifer (Jonathon) Sitarski; grandchildren, Payton, Jordyn, Eastyn, Laikyn and Raelyn Frankowski, and Phelan, Nora and Lennon Sitarski; his sister, Barbara (the late William) Funni; nieces and nephew, Laurie (Scott) Soest, Mark (Fritzie) Funni, and Lisa Funni; great-niece, Ashley (Steve) Joppich; great-nephew, Kace Funni; great-great-niece, Evelyn Joppich; his mother-in-law, Jaclyn (the late Denny) McCartt; as well as a host of friends, former colleagues and customers.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at Heeney-Sundquist on Monday, September 23, from 2-8 pm.

Ron's funeral ceremony is planned for Tuesday morning, September 24, at 11:00 am, also at Heeney-Sundquist.

Private burial will take place Wednesday at New River Cemetery, Port Austin Township, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are kindly suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Ron's legacy of generosity, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
