Ronald J. Helt, age 83, of Northville, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi, MI.

He was born in Buffalo, NY, December 17, 1939, the son of the late Elsie and John Helt.

Ron will be remembered as a devoted family man and hard worker. He worked for GM in the Pontiac division for 25 years. He held various positions in management during this time. He also taught woodworking and knowing his craft he constructed many memorable items. Ron made beautiful furniture pieces and for his grandchildren he made beds and toy chests among the many things he created. After retiring from GM he continued to work as a salesman at Jerry Waldecker Pontiac/Buick dealership. Jerry was a close personal friend of Ron and he enjoyed the sales side of the business for many years. Ron enjoyed camping and canoeing in his free time in Algonquin with his boys and close friends for many years. He also had a great love for music, currently "Lucky" by Jason Mraz is a favorite of Ron and Angie. Above all he loved his family and spending time with them. He treated his step children and step grandchildren as his own, never singling anyone out. He and Angie made two memorable trips outside the country, first to Japan in 2004 and then to Italy in 2017.

Ron is preceded in death by his first wife Donna, they were married 28 years.

Ron is the loving husband of 32 years to Angela; beloved father of David Helt (Kazumi), Stephen Helt (Cheri), Bill Jodway (Sheila), Michael Jodway (Carolyn) and Susan Haisenleder (Michael); cherished grandfather of Rina Helt, Harrison Helt, Maddie Helt, Fay Helt, Amber Jodway, Grace Jodway, Ben Jodway, Anna Haisenleder and Brendan Haisenleder; dearest brother of Ted Helt, Eleanor Manning and the late Dave Helt.

The Helt family will receive friends Wednesday, June 14, 10am – 12pm at the funeral home, where a memorial service celebrating his life will begin at 12pm.
