Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Bob Watt, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Bob departed this life on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor.

Born into a true military family in Shiloh Valley Twp., IL, on April 13, 1956, to the late Henry and Helen (Arsenault) Watt, Bob grew up with an adventurous spirit and a strong sense of duty. At the age of 17, he proudly joined the United States Navy, embarking on a family tradition of service to his country. After being discharged in 1975, Bob returned to civilian life, where he continued to embody his caring nature. He was a true jack of all trades, always lending a helping hand to those in need. He had a heartwarming affinity for older people, as well as children, and his kindness and companionship brought comfort to many. His willingness to do anything for a friend knew no bounds, and he touched countless lives with his generosity.

A man of simple pleasures and lots of "Bobisms", Bob relished his near-daily ritual of enjoying Benito's pizza, savoring each bite with delight. His cherished companion, Sweetpea, a therapy bird, brought him joy and comfort, exemplifying the nurturing spirit that defined him.

Bob had an undying passion for music, finding solace in the blues and the nostalgic tunes of old rock and roll. Music was his refuge and a source of inspiration that touched his soul.

In recent years, Bob experienced a spiritual journey that led him back to his Christian faith. His renewed devotion enriched his life, and he found solace and strength in his beliefs.  His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and the impact he made on their lives will never be forgotten.

Surviving are his beloved wife Pamela Olds, with whom he shared over 30 years together and married 7; his cherished son, Christopher Greco; deeply loved grandchildren, Dylan and Sophia Sroka; siblings, Hank Watt, Jessie Brannum, Elaine Watt, Tom (Debbie) Watt, Teresa (Mike) Osterloh, and Richard (Tara) Watt; step-daughters, Katie (Stephen) Gregory and Kendra (Michael) Sroka; sisters-in-law, Susan (Dale Crist) Olds and Karen (the late Ray) Ziobron; as well as many nieces and nephews, including his "special" niece, Emma.  Sadly, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, James (Tammy) Watt, a sister, Diane Watt, a grandson, Jason Mayleben, and his brother-in-law, Tim Olds, who affectionately nicknamed him, "Bobagnügen".

A memorial service, including military funeral honors, celebrating Bob's life will be held at Heeney-Sundquist on Friday evening, September 8, at 6 pm.  Visitation is planned from 1:30-6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans, dav.org.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we take comfort in knowing that Bob is now reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, and he rests in eternal peace. As we bid farewell to this wonderful man, let us remember his devotion to others and the lessons he imparted to us all.
