Robert D.
Mathieson
Apr 17, 1995 — Sep 17, 2026
Farmington Hills
Robert D. "Bobby" Mathieson, of Farmington Hills, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the age of 31.
Robert was born April 17, 1995, in Detroit, the beloved son of Bruce and Karen (Devine) Mathieson.
Robert possessed a generous spirit and a remarkably big heart, extending kindness and compassion to everyone he encountered. Friendly and outgoing, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a natural way of making people feel welcome. His quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and talkative personality made him both memorable and enjoyable to be around.
Robert had a special love for animals and found meaningful work as a dog trainer. His patience, caring nature, and ability to form connections made him especially well suited to the profession. In addition to his work, Robert was a wrestling coach and served as a mentor to others, offering encouragement, guidance, and friendship. Strong-willed and determined, he approached life with conviction and remained true to himself.
Handsome, funny, witty, altruistic, benevolent, and deeply caring, Robert will be remembered most for his generous heart and the genuine warmth he shared so freely. His life ended far too soon, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Robert is survived by his parents, Karen and Bruce Mathieson; sister, Amber (Costen) Smith and brother, Casey Mathieson; nephews, Finley, Brooks and Colton; grandparents, Kathleen (the late Raymond) LaPointe, Donald (the late Jeanne) Mathieson and James and Valerie Devine; aunts and uncles, Donald (Nancy) Devine, Kelly (Scott) Baldwin, Michelle (Dennis) Butka, Bonnie (Dan) Cyr, Kristi Jones and Robert (Kim) Mathieson; numerous cousins. Sadly, Robert was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Fred Ashcraft.
Robert's family will receive guests on Tuesday, September 22, 2-8 pm, with a 7 pm Sharing of Memories, at the funeral home.
A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, September 23, at 11 am, also at the funeral home.
