Robert E. Kovar, "Bob", age 70, of Farmington Hills, passed away unexpectedly at home, Friday, December 20, 2024.
Bob was born on October 7, 1954, in Detroit, MI, to the late Josephine and Edward Kovar. A dedicated educator, Bob served the Farmington Public Schools for many years as a teacher, vice principal, and principal, with a special passion for teaching special education. He retired in 2014 after a long and impactful career.
Bob was a man of boundless energy and varied interests. He loved to travel, often embarking on adventures throughout the year, with Punta Cana holding a special place in his heart. Camping was another cherished pastime, where he enjoyed the peace of the outdoors.
A true "do-it-yourself" kind of man, Bob was known for his ability to fix, build, and assist with any project. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter the challenge. Above all, Bob was a devoted family man, finding his greatest joy in the company of his loved ones.
Those who knew Bob will remember his caring and supportive nature, his outgoing personality, and his penchant for greeting everyone. His optimism, sense of humor, and cheerful spirit made him a favorite among all who crossed his path.
One of Bob's most cherished roles was playing Santa Claus for children during Christmas time, a tradition he held dear. Every July, he would start growing his "Santa beard," embodying the magic of the season with joy and love.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bob is the loving husband of Miriam for 37 years; beloved father of Austin (Candace), Spencer (Marissa), Miranda, Stephanie and Justin (Jennifer); cherished grandfather of Destiney (Kris), Maeve, Stephen and great grandfather of Grace, Paislee and Heartlynn; dearest brother of Edward, David and the late Jeanette; fondest uncle of many nieces and nephews.
The Kovar family will receive friends Sunday, December 29, 2-6 pm at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be begin at 6 pm.
Bob will be interred Monday in a private ceremony at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in his name to, Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue .
