Obituary

Robert S. "Robbie" Buzzelli, of Waterford, beloved son and brother, unexpectedly entered eternal life early Tuesday morning, January 30, 2024.  He was 57.

Robbie was born October 24, 1966, in Detroit, to Robert A. and the late Maureen (Neumann) Buzzelli.  Sadly, he was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen, on February 25, 2005.

Robbie faced life with an unparalleled spirit, always embracing the challenges that came his way. Born with developmental disabilities, he defied the odds and became an inspiration to all who had the privilege of sharing in his journey. Despite the obstacles, Robbie's unwavering positivity and infectious smile lit up every room he entered.

A fighter in the truest sense, Robbie approached life with determination and resilience. He never allowed his developmental challenges to dampen his spirits or hinder his pursuit of happiness. Robbie's optimism became a guiding light for all who knew him, a reminder that strength comes in many forms, and true courage lies in facing adversity with a smile.

Robbie's love for people knew no bounds. He cherished every moment spent in the company of others, radiating warmth and kindness. Among Robbie's greatest joys was the simple pleasure of good food. He reveled in the experience of savoring delicious meals and found comfort in shared family dinners. Robbie's love for food reflected a desire for normalcy, a wish he held close to his heart throughout his life.

Today, as we mourn the loss of Robbie, we find solace in the belief that he is now reunited with his beloved mother, Maureen, in heaven. Robbie deeply missed her presence during his time on Earth, and we take comfort in knowing that their spirits are now eternally intertwined.

Robbie, you will be dearly missed, and your legacy will continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same courage and joy that you exhibited every day. May you rest in peace.

Surviving are his devoted father, Robert (Christina Detka) Buzzelli; his sister, Angela Buzzelli; niece, Alissa Gubala; aunt, Mary Bologna, as well as a host of extended family.

Family and friends may gather at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home for visitation on Thursday, February 1, from 3-8 pm, with a time of prayer at 6:30 pm.

Robbie's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, February 2, at 10:00 am (in state 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.

Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
