Richard F.
Weglarz
Aug 13, 1934 — Dec 17, 2022
Richard F. Weglarz, resident of Farmington Hills since 1966, passed away in his sleep in the early morning of December 17 th at the age of 88. He grew up in Melvindale, the third son of Carrie and Joseph Weglarz. He went to St. Francis Xavier in Wyandotte and married his high school sweetheart, Rita Zweng, in 1955. They had three children: Richard Joseph (wife Colleen), Paul Gerard (wife Coleen), and Darice Marie (husband Rich). He was also a beloved grandfather to Paul's children: Jack, Lulu, Owen (and Jacob that passed in 2002).
Who was this guy that we called Dad, Dicky Bird, Daddy Wags, and Mr. Nice? He was a great man who deeply loved his country and proudly served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the kind of dad that was full of love and pride for his kids. He always tried his best to provide his family with a better life, which he did and then some. He enjoyed traveling and won many trips for being a lead advertising salesman at 3M National. He was a big car nut and always had a cool car or two in his driveway. He was also pretty handy and liked to tinker and fix things for others. He loved people, loved to share a laugh, and always enjoyed a good party. He had a big smile that matched his big heart.
Unfortunately, dementia crept in for the last seven years of his life, but it did not rob him completely because he was still able to remember his family, share a good story, and tap his foot to a peppy song. If you ever hear the song titled "Everybody's Talkin" by Harry Nilsson, please think of Dad because that was one of his favorite songs and is a fitting way to remember him. Love you Dad...
