Richard L.
Parker, Sr.
Aug 6, 1937 — Jan 25, 2024
Richard, of Howell, passed into eternal life on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. He was 86 years old.
Richard was born August 6, 1937, one of seven children, to the late James and Emily (McCrainie) Parker. He enjoyed a long and prosperous career with General Motors and retired in 1993.
Richard spent his life embracing the simple joys and finding solace in the beauty of nature. His love for camping and fishing, especially in the picturesque landscapes of northern Michigan, defined many of his happiest moments. Whether under the open sky, beside a crackling campfire, or by the tranquil waters, Richard found peace and fulfillment in the great outdoors.
Richard's greatest source of joy, however, was his family. A dedicated husband, he stood as a source of support for his beloved spouse, Arlene, and, as a father, he imparted valuable lessons and shared wonderful experiences with his children, creating memories that will forever be cherished. His role as a grandfather brought happiness to him, and he reveled in the presence of his grandchildren.
Known for his meticulous nature, Richard's organized and neat demeanor was a reflection of the order he brought to both his personal and professional life. His commitment to excellence extended to every aspect of his being, earning him the admiration and respect of those who crossed his path.
A proud member of the Masonic Lodge, Richard exemplified the principles of brotherhood, charity, and integrity. His involvement in the lodge showcased his commitment to community and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Arlene; three sons, Richard Jr., Kurt, and Jamie; and two grandsons, Scott and Brady. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Don, Bob, Chuck, Frank, Carol, and Elaine.
Richard will be interred privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Kindly keep the Parker family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
