Obituary

Phyllis Jean Albaugh-Youngs passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2022 at 89 years of age.
She was born in Minden, West Virginia on May 12th, 1933 to Allen Leo Albaugh and Catherine Elizabeth Dailey Albaugh. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard Youngs, her beloved brother James Albaugh, and her grandson Jeremy Rowlands, who was the love of her life.
She is survived by two daughters - Susan Youngs Campbell and Melissa Youngs, two granddaughters - Erika Campbell and Jordan Misaros, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Phyllis grew up in Oak Hill West Virginia and was the very first person to graduate from Collins High School in 1951.
From there, she went on to graduate from St. Mary's School of nursing in Huntington, West Virginia, class of 1954. She later relocated to Michigan with her family where she met and married Howard. They resided in Detroit before moving to Farmington in 1982 where they lived for 20 years before retiring and moving to Howell.
Phyllis had a deep love of nursing and her professional career was defined by her commitment to helping others. Early in her career she worked as head nurse in the ER of a hospital before agreeing to help establish the private practice of  Dr. George A. Dean M.D, a pioneer and trailblazer in the field of family medicine. She worked as his personal assistant and office manager in Southfield for 44 years.
Although she had a keen business sense when it came to running the office, she was always a nurse first, and often the first phone call for family, friends, and patients when anything was wrong. That trend lasted long after she retired, and in fact she still  received phone calls from patients right up through the end of her life.
Her wish was to be remembered as a nurse, a helper, and a friend.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 9th from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.
An uplifting memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 10th at 11:00am at the funeral home,  followed by a luncheon.
