Obituary

Paul Kit-Choy Ng, 77, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away suddenly on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Born on September 7, 1947, to Joseph Ng and Helen Ng (née Shum) in Hong Kong, Paul had a happy childhood, as the eldest brother to four siblings, and attended the prestigious La Salle College before immigrating to the US and attending the University of Memphis (then Memphis State University). After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Master's in Business Administration, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he worked for Ford Motor Company as a powertrain engineer. He became a proud father in 1974 upon the birth of his daughter, Elaine. Following his marriage in 1983 to Jacqueline Ng (née Chan), he welcomed his second child in 1986 with the birth of his son, Terence. He became a grandfather in 2013 upon the birth of his only grandson, Massimo, who shares his birthday.

A passionate student of ballroom dance, he co-founded and served as the president of the Ford Ballroom Dance Club, which continues to this day. He was an avid reader, a true epicurean, and his favorite music included classic Motown, Eagles, The Beach Boys, and British Invasion standouts like The Beatles, Herman's Hermits, and The Hollies. He made frequent trips to Toronto to visit his extended family and attended regular reunions with his fellow La Salle alumni, the "Old Boys". In his retirement, he spread his interests to international travel, spending great amounts of time on the seas with his wife and their cruise ship friends. Through cruises, Paul saw the entire world more than twice over and danced through it all.

Though he could be stubborn, his love for his family and friends was unquestioned, and the mischievous playfulness he reserved especially for them was a testament to that love. He found comfort in the love of his wife and the knowledge that his children were happy and well. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jacqueline, his beloved daughter, Elaine, his beloved son, Terence, his grandson, Massimo, his siblings Maria, Teresa, Winnifred, and Raymond, and his nephews and nieces. He will be missed more than words could ever say."
