Paul Alan
Koenig
Oct 28, 1955 — Dec 28, 2024
Northville
Paul Koenig, affectionately called "PK", a devoted family man, skilled craftsman, and avid cornhole player, and outdoorsman, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. His life was marked by love, dedication, and a joy for the simple pleasures that made each day special.
Paul was born on October 28, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, the beloved son of the late Robert and May (Smith)Koenig.
Paul spent many years as a respected tool-and-die craftsman at J. Brisbois, where his expertise and work ethic were highly regarded. However, his true devotion was to his beloved wife of 46 years, JoAnn VanMeter. Married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmington, Michigan, Paul and JoAnn built a life filled with laughter, and unwavering love.
An enthusiastic bowler, Paul was a master of the lanes, achieving the rare feat of rolling multiple perfect 300 games throughout his lifetime. He also loved fishing with his family, especially trips to Hardiman Lake in Canada, where he happily spent hours pursuing pike and smallmouth bass.
At home, Paul's grandchildren adored him, affectionately calling him "Papa." He loved coloring Pac-Man pictures with them, creating cherished memories filled with joy and laughter. He also enjoyed gardening. A loyal Detroit Red Wings and Lions fan, Paul cheered on his teams with enthusiasm, through thick and thin. Evenings often found him enjoying a glass of wine or apricot brandy, savoring the simple pleasures of life.
Paul shared his days with Jamie, his beloved Husky, whose companionship brought him immense joy.
Paul's life was a testament to love, talent, and gratitude for the world around him. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone, fortunate enough to know him.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn Koenig; loving children, Matthew Koenig and Rachel (Charlie) Riedel; adored grandchildren, Carter and Charlie; and dear siblings, Mark Koenig, David Koenig, and Jayne Lanigan.
The family invites all who loved Paul to celebrate his remarkable life on Saturday, January 4, from 3-7 pm at The Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home.
Donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society to further honor Paul's life.
Please keep Paul and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
