Patricia
Stebbins
Feb 25, 1944 — Jun 29, 2024
Livonia
Patricia (Pat, Patty, Patti Lee) Lenore LeFevre-Stebbins (80) passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024, in Livonia, Michigan, surrounded by her family. Patty suffered from dementia/Alzheimer's disease for the last four years during which time she was lovingly cared for at Hillcrest Manor in Livonia. Pat was born on February 25, 1944.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years, Gerald B. Stebbins and her cherished children, Thomas B. Stebbins, Sharon L. Stebbins-Groene (Ralph), and Edward W. Stebbins (Lisa). She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Oliver and Greta Groene, Dorothy, William and Thomas Stebbins. She also leaves behind her siblings, Helen A. Gardner (Kim), and Paul G. LeFevre (Kathy) and many nieces and nephews. Patty's parents, William E. and Patricia A. (Sweeney) LeFevre preceded her death as did her brother, Mark G. LeFevre.
Pat was a devoted mother and advocate for her special needs son as a member of the Parents of the Visually Impaired. She was a 1962 graduate of Benedictine High School, Detroit where she was cheerleader captain, co-captain of the Debate Club, student council vice president, and Valedictorian. Patty graduated from Mercy College of Detroit with a BA in Education in 1966 during which time she also spent a semester studying French at Universite Laval in Quebec City. Before marrying in 1968, she spent a summer in Chiapas, Mexico with Project Encounter where she helped construct a medical facility and lived with a family on their coffee bean farm. She earned her MA in Special Education from Mercy College and taught for many years at Redford High School, Detroit; St. Cecilia Catholic School, Detroit; and Hillside Middle School, Northville. During her time in Northville schools, Pat chaperoned numerous class trips to Europe and was nominated for Teacher of the Year. She was a lector for over 20 years at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, Livonia where she advocated for inclusion and community.
Patty will be dearly remembered for her infectious laugh and her love of hosting family, friends. If not family or friend, you became one as she never failed to find connections with those around her. Pat radiated empathy, joy, and a spark for life. She leaves us with her shining smile, loving kindness, and strength of spirit... a role model for a life well lived.
Although Pat loved flowers, donations may be made to the Arc Michigan; St. Joseph Indian School; or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Pat's family will receive guests at Heeney-Sundquist on Sunday, July 7th, from 2-8 pm. A time of prayer and remembering is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
Pat's funeral service is planned for Monday morning, July 8th, at 11 am, also at the funeral home. Monsignor Michael Hazard will preside.
Private interment will take place at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
