Nicholas, of Farmington Hills, entered eternal life on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor.  He was 41 and hospitalized for several weeks.

Nick was born November 28, 1981, at Providence Hospital, Southfield, to Joseph Derocher and Patricia (Gully) Derocher.

Surviving are his loving and devoted parents, Joseph (Kelly) Derocher and Patricia "Tisa" (Kenneth) Barna; caring siblings, Daniel (Lindsey) Derocher, Alex (Keña) Derocher, Abby Derocher, Nicole (Michael) Royal and Natalie (Mat) Rhymer; proud grandparents, Jean (the late Clifford) Gully, Reneè (the late Lawrence) Derocher, and Ken and Carol Mesk; nieces and nephews, Kellen Derocher, Kynsley Derocher, Charlie Derocher, Sofia Derocher, Dillon Royal, and Jonas Rhymer; as well as a host of friends.

Nicholas was a likeable, goofy, kind and loving spirit that drew everyone to instantly like him and quickly love him.  He touched so many people's lives in a positive way.  Even though Nick lived with challenges, he never asked, "why me" and always loved with happiness and joy in his heart.  Nick showed the rest of us how to live our lives serving others.  He will forever be remembered as a person who gave unconditional love to everyone who know him.  Please join the family to celebrate Nick's wonderful life!

After the service, we will be sharing some of our favorite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry and remember a wonderfully amazing son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson and friend who will be greatly missed.
We welcome you to share your memories with those who are gathered. If you prefer not to speak in front of the group or cannot attend the "story sharing" time, please write or type your memory so that it can be read aloud by our family friend.

Their services were tremendously helpful for our Lindsey to be able to "trade" her unmatching kidney for another donor's kidney so Nick could get his kidney transplant in July 2021.

Due to a gene mutation, many of Nick's medical issues stemmed from Neurofibromatosis type 2(NF2).
NF2 is much less common than NF1, affecting about 1 in 25,000 people worldwide. The disorder is characterized by the development of benign tumors, called vestibular schwannomas, on the nerve that carries sound and balance information from the inner ear to the brain. These tumors affect both ears, often leading to partial or complete hearing loss. People with NF2 may also develop other types of benign brain or spinal tumors.
