Nena Elizabeth Atkins

Nena Elizabeth Atkins, 79, from Farmington Hills, MI peacefully passed away on October 2, 2026. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, sister, and son-in-law.

She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she shared with those around her. Nena had a special gift for making family and friends feel welcome, bringing people together through the meals she lovingly prepared. Baking in particular brought her great joy, and her holiday cookies will never be forgotten.

Her warmth and caring spirit touched many lives. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her compassion for animals, and her generosity for donating to organizations focusing on improving the quality of life for animals and people is one example of her kindness.

Nena is survived by her children, Kimberly Diebboll (Bruce), Jodi Royse (Doug, Zachary, Alexis), and Matthew Portnoy (Shannon, Dyllan, Camryn, Avery). 

A luncheon celebrating her life will be held in the future for close family and friends.
