Nancy Sue Harmon, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, departed this world on November 18th, 2023, at the age of 67. Born on May 6th, 1956, in Detroit, MI, to the late John Paul and Josephine (Brooks) Tinnelly, Nancy's life was a testament to love, kindness, and selflessness.
Nancy found her greatest joy in the company of her husband, Patrick, and their two sons, Michael and William. Together, they shared a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Nancy's warm heart extended beyond her immediate family, embracing friends and relatives alike. She reveled in hosting gatherings at her downtown Detroit condo, overlooking Belle Isle, where she and Pat crafted a haven of happiness.
Before illness touched her life, Nancy explored the world with enthusiasm, creating lasting bonds with those fortunate enough to accompany her on adventures near and far. A gracious host and a beacon of generosity, Nancy's selfless spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
A woman of many passions, Nancy married her soulmate, Patrick, on October 20, 1984, at Bethesda Lutheran Church. Her love for travel and culinary delights illuminated her life, and her compassionate heart even sponsored a family from Guatemala.
Nancy, a skilled computer programmer specializing in system analysis, pursued her education at Redford High School and Oakland Community College. Her dedication to her craft and her unwavering kindness made her a respected colleague and a cherished friend.
As we say our goodbyes, we remember Nancy Harmon for the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the lasting impact of her gentle soul on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Patrick Harmon; beloved sons, Michael (Jayme) Harmon and William Harmon; dear brother, Eric (Linda) Tinnelly; caring sisters and brothers-in-law, George (Judith) Harmon, Maureen (Michael) Haggerty, Susan (Michael) McKiernan, Martina (Daniel) Ezekiel, Matthew (Cynthia) Harmon, Sheila (David) Stock, and Thomas (Kate) Harmon; loving nieces and nephews, Patrick Tinnelly, Spencer (Katie) Tinnelly, Rebecca Tinnelly, Tim Harmon, Adrian Harmon, Conor Harmon, Matthew (Sarah) Hagerty, Claire Russell, Bridget (Dave) Ennis, Mark Hagerty, Lewis (Amanda) Ezekiel, Elaine (Andy) Fowler, Brendan Harmon, Aidan Harmon, Patrick Harmon, Isabel Fontana, Edward Harmon, Eric Harmon, and Shannon Harmon.
Nancy was preceded in death by her dear brother, Steven Paul Tinnelly; niece, Emily Harmon; and nephew-in-law, Rob Russell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, at The Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, 23720 Farmington Road, Farmington, MI 48336, to celebrate Nancy's remarkable life, with visitors invited from 2-8 pm, and sharing of memories at 7 pm.
A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, November 28, at St. Mary's of Redford Catholic Church, 16098 Grand River Ave., Detroit, MI 48227, with Mass starting at 11:00 am (in state at 10:30 am).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Detroit Blight Busters, or Capuchins Soup Kitchen, all causes close to Nancy's heart.
