Najla
Romain
d. Nov 29, 2025
Najla "Jaj" Romain, age "why do you need to know", of Bloomfield Hills, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Born in Lebanon to Lahoud and Amy (Latouf) Romain, Najla carried with her from the beginning a remarkable blend of grace, and independence—qualities that defined her long, beautiful life.
Najla had a 30 plus year career as an executive secretary with Ford Motor Company, where she was known for her sharp mind, quiet strength, and unwavering loyalty.
To her family, she was simply "Jaj", a woman of class, deeply devoted to those she loved, and unapologetically herself. She lived boldly and entirely on her own terms. Jaj had a gift for walking into any room and bringing laughter, whether by poking fun at herself or offering a perfectly timed quip at someone else's expense. Everyone who knew her has a favorite "Jaja story," many a testament to her rare ability to humble you and love you in the same breath. Tiny but mighty, she was strong in body, spirit, and conviction.
Her love ran deep. Her devotion to her family never wavered, and she loved with a fierce, full, and genuine heart. She shared a rare and extraordinary bond with her niece Tia. A connection built on trust, affection, and an unspoken understanding. When Jaj needed support most, Tia stood by her without hesitation, steadfast, compassionate, and unwavering bringing Jaj profound comfort and peace.
Life offered her yet another blessing in her Godson, Eric, whom she adored with boundless tenderness and an unshakable belief that he could do no wrong. And though her love was vast, she still held a special place for her nephew Robby and niece Jennifer.
Stylish, particular about her appearance, resilient beyond measure, and wonderfully strong-willed, Jaj remained true to herself in every way, and the world was richer for it. Each evening, she savored her Dewar's Scotch, a quiet ritual that suited her perfectly: refined, steady, and unmistakably her.
Najla is survived by her sisters-in-law, Eva and Myrna; her nieces and nephews, Tia (Larry) Flory, Robby (Loretta) Romain, Eric Romain, and Jennifer Romain; and her great-nieces and nephews, Brittany, Matthew, and Kayla Flory; Joe, Marcus, and Niklas (Chloe) Romain; and Taylor, Mackenzie, and Gunnar Lombard. She was preceded in death by her siblings Odette, Joe, Claude, Marie, and Henri.
Her presence, her strength, and her unmatched spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all blessed to have known her.
Najla's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, December 19, at 11:00 am (in state 10:30 am) at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Road in Bloomfield Hills.
Private interment will take place later that afternoon at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Memorial contributions in Najla's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
