Mitch, a devoted husband, father, son, brother and grandfather, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. He was 68 years old.

Born June 28, 1958, in  Bristol, Virginia, Mitch grew up in Madison Heights, Michigan. For nearly four decades, he owned and operated Modern Care Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning servicing the metropolitan areas of Detroit and Ann Arbor. He took great pride in managing his business and loved his work, but it was the friendships he made along the way that meant the most to him. Mitch loved his customers, and they loved him. He could easily get sidetracked in conversation with people he would run into.

Mitch was genuine and easy to talk to. He wanted to know people and was always willing to lend a hand, even when it meant going without. He was independent, hardworking and never concerned with impressing anyone. When he married Cathy she had three children, he loved them and helped raise them as his own.

Mitch enjoyed bowling in a league with Cathy, fishing with his boys, and watching and cheering for his grandchildren at their sporting events. He was always there to encourage those around him with words of praise and a wide smile, whether you were attempting something new or doing something for the thousandth time. He took pride in his garden and yard, looked forward to Red Wings and Tiger games on television, loved a good barbecue or bonfire-with beers in earlier days, and going swimming on vacations in Florida. He was happiest spending time with family. An animal lover, he had a particular soft spot for cats and dogs but he enjoyed providing shelter for many cats in the neighborhood.

Those who knew Mitch will remember his generous heart, his familiar face around Canton, and the time he always made for a conversation. His family will remember the many ways he showed his love by being there for them.

Mitch is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Cathy; four cherished children, Donald (Kimberly) Barduca, David (Jennifer) Barduca, Douglas (Kayla) Barduca, and Jennifer (fiancé Jayson Norton) Ramsey; his father, Johnny Ramsey; grandchildren, Dylan and Katelyn Barduca, Nathan, Vincent and James Barduca, Gavin, Jacob and Layla Ramsey, Jayce Norton, and Catherine Cortese; and two brothers, Michael (Terri) Ramsey and David (Kim) Ebeling.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalie.

Family and friends may gather for visitation and services at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in downtown Farmington on Tuesday, September 29th, from 2-8 pm.  Mitch's funeral ceremony will take place during the visiting hours at 4:00 pm.

Memorial tributes are suggested to the charity of one's choice.
