"Mom,

My heart is overwhelmed with love and gratitude to you and to God for all that your life has accomplished in 92 years.  You always sacrificed for your children and gave unselfishly to each of us.  Even in the sternest moments, when discipline was needed, we never doubted your love.  You always went over and above what was expected, just to show your love.

When you grew weary and passed me your baton, I tried to make it a seamless transition, to not let you feel that weariness.  It makes me smile when I think of all the laughter we shared, even if I had to go over and above your progressing limitations.  I hope you're still smiling Mom and laughing with me as these thoughts come to my mind.  Even now I laugh out loud by myself when I think of some of our funniest moments.  Even when you became weak, your strength never depleted because you still managed to smile.

The greatest gift you gave to me, coupled with your love, was leading me to Christ.  You took the lead and I followed without hesitation.  You lead by example time and time again.

Even when the days got shorter and I watched you slowly leaving this earth, your strength somehow was resolute with love.  I'll never forget the last words I heard you speak, the ones that lead your life; "God is good all the time, yes He is".

My last words to you as I laid my head upon your chest, the ones you would sometimes say with joy; "Free at last, free at last".

I love you Mom and I will see you later -"

Rita

Grandma,

(A Medley of Memories from Zabe)

Snapping beans, trips on Greyhound, Bakers Square, Baskin Robbins, fryers, KFC, Rally's, laying on her lap, doing her hair, playing on her phone, singing, laying in her bed, BBQ's in the backyard, washing my car in her driveway, sneaking in the candy dish, walking to the store, JCPenney, Spiegel's catalogs, cards for every occasion, sneaking money in my hand, riding my bike, getting hit with a switch, getting fitted for slips, riding in the Roadmaster, spumoni ice cream, sitting on the porch, dragging that rotary phone with the extra-long cord to her  and trips to Dickson Bible store ….. (so much more)

The family will receive guests at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Thursday, November 16, from 3-6 pm.

Mildred's funeral ceremony is planned for Friday morning, November 17, at 11:00 am, also at Heeney-Sundquist.  Pastor James Dennis, of the Elmwood Park Church of Christ, will preside, accompanied by soloist and family friend, Terry Herron.

A procession to Woodlawn Cemetery, Detroit, will immediately follow the funeral ceremony.

Following our time together at Woodlawn, Mildred's family has planned a Repass at the Chanticleer Condominium Clubhouse, 23209 Reynard, Southfield.  All are welcome.

Kindly keep Mildred and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
