Obituary

Michael J. Wengren, "Mike," age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, at his home in Wixom, Michigan, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born in Dearborn, MI, February 19, 1957, the son of the late Eva and Mitchell Wengren.

A true entrepreneur, Mike was the proud owner of an auto parts business, buying and selling parts to customers nationwide. Known as a competitive businessman and a skilled negotiator, he thrived in every aspect of his work. He approached his business with a passion that inspired those around him, finding joy in every task and relishing the chance to do things his way.

Mike found solace and adventure at his riverfront home in Florida, where he spent countless hours fishing, jet skiing, and enjoying the open water. Family trips were a highlight of his life, and he delighted in packing up the car to drive cross-country with his family, creating unforgettable memories and giving them all a chance to see the beauty of the nation together.

An avid music lover, Mike attended concerts regularly, and his love for travel often took him to auto conventions, especially in Las Vegas. It was during one of these trips that he and his beloved wife, Sue, tied the knot, adding a new chapter to their journey together.

Mike took immense pride in his Wixom property, mowing the lawn with meticulous care and trimming trees as needed, always ensuring his surroundings reflected his dedication. A hardworking spirit defined him from a young age, starting with a Detroit paper route that served over 300 customers.

Known for his generosity, Mike and Sue supported numerous charities, helping to ensure that those in need had what they needed. Despite a courageous two-year battle with cancer, Mike's strength, dedication, and generous spirit remained steadfast until the end.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, adventure, and compassion lives on in the hearts of those he touched.

Mike is the loving husband of Sue for 21 years, although they have been happily together for 29 years; beloved father of Jessica Wengren (Christopher Brewer), Owen Cook (Magie), Kelly Ryan (Paul Kirkwood) and Michael Ryan (Megan); cherished grandfather of Ember; dearest stepson of Art Farden (Nancy) and brother in law to Sheri Wengren; fondest uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He also leaves behind his faithfully loving dog, Bennie.  Sadly, Mike is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Richard and Mitchell and his Aunt Lottie, who meant a lot to Mike while he was growing up, she made a strong impact in his life.

The Wengren family will receive guests Monday, November 11, 2-8 pm at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held honoring Mike's life, Tuesday, November 12, beginning at 10 am.

Immediately following the service everyone is invited to join a funeral procession taking Mike to his final place of rest, Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice.  Mike and Sue had many charities they generously gave to and wouldn't want one to be slighted.

Please keep the Wengren family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
