Morgan
Nov 29, 1955 — Sep 16, 2023
Ferndale
Michael J. Morgan, age 67, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 16, 2023.
Mike was born November 29, 1955, in Detroit, the son of Clarence and Mary Ann (Holderith) Morgan.
Mike always put the needs of his family first. He had been the caregiver for his 94-year-old parents for the past 10 years, which allowed them to remain in the comfort of their home. He cooked delicious food for his family, especially big Sunday dinners, and always researched for the healthiest ingredients. Mike did all the grocery shopping to keep the home well stocked for any need.
The one word that described Mike best was dependable. He wouldn't hesitate to drive family members to the doctor and help with any other needs. He was an Altar Server when he was a young boy. He was proficient in Martial Arts and especially loved Tai Chi. Mike cared deeply about making correct and thoughtful decisions, carefully researching options and weighing the pros and cons before decisions were made. He was a lover of dogs, especially Luke, Lobo and Toula.
Mike earned his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Michigan, and his Masters Degree from Eastern Michigan University. He received honors for High Academic Achievement from the University of Michigan, and the designation of Graduate with High Distinction from the University of Michigan. He worked for many years as an Instructor and Coordinator of the American Language Cultural Program at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he taught English as a second language to many international University students. His program was so trusted and renowned, the Saudi Arabian's sent the first Saudi Arabian women to be taught in his classes. He also lived and taught English in Japan for several years and traveled around Europe teaching.
Mike was a kind and good man, and deeply loved by his family.
Mike is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Morgan; siblings, Stephen (Diana) Morgan, James (Debby) Morgan, Katherine Michael, and Daniel Morgan; nieces and nephews, Brad Morgan, Keven Morgan, Rachael (Walt) Talbot, Brittany (Jon) Anderson, Theodore "T.J." (Jenn) Michael, Kim Saffran, Caleb Morgan, Sarah Morgan, Elijah Morgan, and Grace Morgan; great nieces and nephews, Elliana Talbot, Evelyn Talbot, Ethan Talbot, Roman Anderson, and Christian Anderson. Sadly, Mike was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Morgan, Jr., on April 5, 2023.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 23rd, 11 am (gathering beginning at 10:30 am) at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Rd, Farmington.
