Michael, of Commerce, passed into eternal life at home on Friday afternoon, February 17, 2023.  He was 76.

Michael was born December 10, 1946, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, the son of Keith and Margaret (Neve) Handy.  He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served in Vietnam.  Following his return from Vietnam, Michael graduated from Wayne State University and began his career as a Physician's Assistant.

Michael married Nora J. Rogers on July 20, 1974, at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Farmington Hills.

Michael is the loving husband of 48 years to Nora; cherished father of Adam E. (Jennifer) Handy and the late Jason Handy (d. 2013); dear grandfather of Eli Michael Handy and Lexi Charlotte Handy; fond brother of Douglas (Margaret) Handy, Margaret (Gamma) Torres, and the late Paul Handy; also survived by sister-in-law, Linda (Robert) Byron and brother-in-law, Dennis Rogers.

Family and friends may gather at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Friday, February 24, from 2-8 pm.

Michael's funeral ceremony is scheduled for Saturday morning, February 25th, at 11:30 am, also at Heeney-Sundquist.  Father Walter Ptak, Pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Farmington, will preside.

A procession to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, will immediately follow the funeral.
