Obituary

Mary S. "Mollie" Lewarne, age 97, of Farmington Hills, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Mary was born November 21, 1928, in Detroit, the daughter of Thomas and Jessie (Jack) Watt. On November 8, 1952, she married William Lewarne in Royal Oak, and together they shared 57 years of marriage prior to his passing on June 17, 2010.

Mary began her working career at Burroughs Corp. and later worked as a sales clerk at Jacobson's Department Store, where her friendly nature and gracious personality were a wonderful fit. She was a gifted piano player and shared her love of music by teaching piano lessons to others.

Mary was a sweet, gentle, and kindhearted woman who was dearly loved by those who knew her. She enjoyed baseball, football, fishing, and the companionship of cats. In recent years, she became beloved by the residents and staff at Halsted Place, where her warmth and pleasant spirit touched many lives.

Above all, Mary loved her family. She was the loving mother of Nancy (Terry) Rudd and Thomas (Laura) Lewarne; cherished grandmother of Nicholas (Jessica) Lewarne, Nathan (Raeanna) Lewarne, Jason (Katie) Lewarne, Tiffany (Patrick) Morris, and Scott (Madison) Taylor; and proud great-grandmother of Avalyn, Luca, Finn, Leo, Dean, Sophie, Ryder, and Whitman.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, and her sister, Margaret Condon.

Mary's family is deeply grateful to the entire team at Halsted Place and gateway for their supportive care and kindness.
