Obituary

Mary Gluck, of the Fox Run Senior Community in Novi, passed into eternal life on Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 2025.  She was 91 years old.

Mary was born July 11, 1933, in Detroit, to the late Nicholas and Albina (Klepacka) Cizewski.  Mary's gentle spirit, kindness, and creative talent left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Mary was a gifted artist with a love for drawing that filled her life with beauty. Her passion for art was matched only by her pioneering spirit. She was the first woman to work in the drafting department at General Motors, a testament to her trailblazing efforts in a male-dominated industry. Later, she worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Co, where she met the love of her life, Ned. Together, they built a life full of love and adventure, marrying in 1955, at St. Cunegunda Catholic Church in Detroit.  Sadly, Ned preceded her in death in 2005.

Mary embraced her Polish heritage, and she loved the simple pleasures in life, such as enjoying roses, savoring chocolate, and baking delicious chocolate chip cookies and brownies. Her warm, quiet presence was felt most deeply by her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, and a cherished grandmother to her seven grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Mary's love for her family was evident in every gesture, whether it was baking treats for the grandkids or spending time knitting and cross-stitching, creating beautiful tablecloths for the home she lovingly tended.

Mary and Ned were active and engaged members of the Orchard Lake Saint Mary's community during their son Greg's time there, where they participated in many of the school's activities. Mary was a quiet, reserved woman, yet her heart was full of love for those she cared about.

Mary's family fondly remembers the many cross-country trips she took with Ned and the kids in their Country Squire station wagon. From California to the Grand Canyon, New York to Florida, they would make memories together, stopping at rest areas to enjoy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and the joy of being together.

Mary's presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through her family, her artwork, and the many lives she touched with her love and kindness. May she rest in peace.

Mary is survived by three beloved children, Maureen (Thomas) Adams, Christine (Randy) Bowman, and Joseph (Rachel) Gluck; seven cherished grandchildren, Lauren (Alex) Doetsch, Jason (Samantha) Gluck, Dr. Matthew (Melissa) Gluck, Alexandra Bowman, Michael Gluck, Patrick and Maggie Adams; her adorable great-granddaughter, Lyla Gluck; and siblings, Irene Moran and Theresa Derderian.  In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Gregory (Nancy) Gluck, and siblings, Adele Woyshner, Jean Cizewski, Stella Lupa, and Emily Sammons.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Friday, March 28th from 3-8 pm.  A time of prayer and remembrances is planned for 7 pm.

Mary's funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, March 29th, 10:00 am (in state 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.
