Obituary

Martin John McEvilly, "Marty", age 68, passed on Sunday, October 13th, after complications following a stroke.

Marty, the eldest of seven children, was born February 15, 1956, to his Irish father, Richard William, and German mother, Marilyn Irene (Seller), in Texas, where his father was stationed.  Soon after, the family moved back to Michigan, and settled in Dearborn Heights, then moved to Detroit, where Marty attended St. Mary's of Redford, followed by Oakland University, graduating in Computer Science. He worked for IBM and Blue Cross Blue Shield, retiring to care for his beloved father in 2023. Marty loved being outdoors: fishing, biking, or walking six or seven miles a day with Pamela, his partner in love and life.  Marty will be remembered for his fabulous cookie-baking, delightful storytelling, love of all things Irish, endless enjoyment of dogs and University of Michigan and all Detroit sports.  Marty's clever anecdotes, intellectual curiosity, imaginative problem-solving, and generous heart will be missed always.  He will also be remembered for his excellent sense of humor, perseverance facing challenges and support of others.

Marty is the loving partner of Pamela Wegner; beloved brother of Maureen (Tom) Foerg, Brian (Anne Marie), Paul (Laura), Teresa (Jonathan) Nii, and Timothy (Cindy); adored uncle of Allison, Shelby (Jace Haddeland), Sean, Owen, Liam, Lily, Alexander, Andrew, Maxwell, and grand-nephew, Finnegan. He is also survived by dear aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Sadly, Marty is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Richard and Marilyn, and sister, Beth Pisoni.

The McEvilly family will receive friends Friday, October 25, 2-8 pm, with a scripture service and sharing of memories starting at 7 pm, at the funeral home.

A funeral mass celebrating Marty's life will be Saturday, October 26, 10 am (in state 9:30 am), Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd, Farmington.
