Marilynn Ann
Leedom
May 7, 1949 — Feb 21, 2026
Farmington Hills
Marilynn A. Leedom, age 76, of Farmington Hills, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Henry Ford Providence Hospital in Novi.
Marilynn was born on May 7, 1949, in Detroit, the beloved daughter of Richard and Agnes (Basharrah) Rice. She attended Epiphany Grade School and graduated from Immaculata High School. She continued her education at Madonna University and the University of Detroit Mercy, where she earned her nursing degree and began a lifelong vocation of compassionate care.
On August 8, 1969, she married the love of her life, Gerald L. Leedom. They shared 41 devoted years of marriage until his passing on July 2, 2010.
Marilynn was loving, supportive, faithful, and deeply spiritual. Fiercely devoted to her family and friends, she was always "everybody's mom" — a steady presence, a compassionate listener, and a source of comfort and strength to so many. Her huge heart, vibrant spirit, and fierce independence defined the way she lived and loved.
As a nurse, Marilynn cared not only for her patients but for entire communities. She proudly served as the Southfield-Lathrup Band Nurse, offering both medical care and encouragement to generations of students. Her compassion extended beyond her profession; she was a fierce ally of the LGBTQ+ community, standing firmly in love and advocacy.
Music was one of Marilynn's great joys. She loved singing and was a member of several choirs, sharing her gift generously. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was always busy at church and served as a devoted Sacristan at St. Ives and St. Owen, where she was a pillar of the parish community.
Marilynn is the loving mother of Ken (Kim) Leedom, Colleen (Shannon) LaCombe and Shannon Leedom; cherished grandmother of Rebeccah Leedom, Allyson McNiff (Alex) Musto, Dylan Leedom, Nathan Leedom, Sarah LaCombe and Asher Adams; great grandmother of Theon and Adalynn Musto; fond sister of Steve (Linda) Rice, Roz (Greg) Slavik, Rick (Maria) Rice and the late Ron (Sharlene) Kreitsch.
The Leedom family will receive guests on Friday, February 27, from 4-8 pm and Saturday, February 28, from 3-8 pm at the funeral home.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Sunday, March 1, 1 pm (in state 12:30 pm), at St. Owen Catholic Church, 6869 Franklin Road, Bloomfield Hills.
Interment will take place at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
