Marian Anita
Brossard
Aug 13, 1944 — Dec 19, 2025
Livonia
Marian "Anita" Anita Brossard, age 81, of Livonia MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Corewell Health Farmington Hills.
Anita was born on August 13, 1944, the beloved daughter of James and Virgie Neva (Curneal) Carlisle. She was raised with strong family values and a deep faith that guided her throughout her life. On June 19, 1965, Anita married the love of her life, James Brossard. Their marriage was one of devotion and partnership until James preceded her in death on February 23, 2023—a loss Anita carried with quiet strength and enduring love.
As a teenager, Anita worked alongside her mother at Virgie's Chili Hut, where fate stepped in and she met her future husband, James. She later worked at the Palace Restaurant, but her most important role was always at home—where family came first, without exception.
A truly motherly soul, Anita was a devoted mom to her son, Steve, and a cherished grandmother, lovingly known as "Nan" to her three grandchildren, Samantha, Stephen, and Sean. She shared a special closeness with her nieces and nephews, and became like a second mother to her niece, Shannon. She maintained a meaningful bond with her former daughter-in-law, Mona, as well as Mona's mother, Dory, and friend David.
Anita treasured time spent with her family up north, in Atlanta MI, where laughter, togetherness, and simple joys filled her happiest days. Her faith was central to who she was—she lived her beliefs quietly but deeply, with kindness, humility, and devotion.
She was a wonderful cook and legendary in her kitchen—known especially for her deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, peach cobbler, and meatloaf, dishes that became family favorites and lasting memories. Anita also had a gift that required no recipe at all: she gave the very best hugs, the kind that made everything feel okay.
A lifelong lover of animals, Anita's gentle heart extended to all living things. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family will be remembered always.
Anita is survived by her son, Stephen Brossard; grandchildren, Samantha (CJ Stremich) Brossard, Stephen Brossard, and Sean Brossard; sister-in-law, Brenda Carlisle; many close nieces and nephews; former daughter-in-law, Mona Bezaire; friends Dory Schmidt and David Pommerening; close neighbors, Steve Hatchigian and Phil Lexson; and her beloved dog, Diamond. Anita was preceded in death by her husband James Brossard; parents James and Virgie Carlisle; brother, Lloyd Carlisle; sisters, Wanda (Bill) Britt, Geraldine (Pat) Raby, and Neva Carlisle.
Anita's family will receive guests on Sunday, December 28, 2-8 pm, at the funeral home.
A funeral service is planned for Monday, December 29, 11 am, also at the funeral home.
Interment will immediately follow at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
Memorial tributes are suggested to the Michigan Humane Society, Purple Heart Foundation, or the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Anita leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family—one that will continue through every shared meal, every tight hug, and every moment spent together in her memory.
