Maria A. Miller, age 65, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 20, 2024, after bravely fighting many ailments for much of her life.

Maria was born in Detroit, MI, June 29, 1959, daughter of the late Genevieve and Bernard Kocaj.

Maria graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing. In August 2005, she married Robert, and they shared a deep and loving bond.

Maria was known for her passion for gardening, earning recognition through beautification awards in Plymouth. She thrived outdoors and cherished every opportunity to be in nature. Indoors, she found joy in baking, often preparing fresh treats for her husband, Robert, before he began his day.

A lover of travel, Maria enjoyed long car rides with Robert, frequently embarking on day trips to destinations such as Ohio, Chicago, and her favorite spot, Granville, OH. No matter where they traveled, Maria insisted on watching Wheel of Fortune each night, a comforting routine that brought her joy.

Active in her community, Maria sang in the Plymouth Community Choir for many years, sharing her love of music with others. Despite facing the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis, which confined her to a wheelchair for the last decade of her life, Maria maintained a remarkably positive attitude and outlook.

Maria will be remembered for her resilience, her love of life's simple pleasures, and her unwavering optimism. Her presence touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Maria is the loving wife of Robert for 19 years; beloved sister to her twin brother, Tim and David Kocaj (Cheryl).

The Miller family will receive guests Thursday, July 25, 2-8 pm at the funeral home.  A rosary service will begin at 7 pm Thursday evening.

A funeral Mass celebrating Maria's life will be Friday, July 26, 10 am (in state 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd, Farmington.

Maria will be laid to rest at St. Patrick Cemetery, Brighton, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either St. Jude Children's Hospital or National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Maria's memory.
