Luke R.
Schroeder
Jul 30, 2003 — Aug 23, 2026
Madison
Luke Russell Schroeder, 23, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away suddenly and peacefully on August 23, 2026, in Madison, Wisconsin. He will be remembered for his warmth, curiosity, and the energy he brought into every room. One of Luke's greatest gifts he gave to this world was his ability to love people and make lasting connections wherever life took him. The incredible friendships he built throughout his life reflect the remarkable person he was, and the love his friends and family have for him will forever be part of the legacy he leaves behind. His loss leaves an emptiness in the lives of everyone who knew him.
Born on July 30, 2003, in Royal Oak, Michigan, to Christine Chamberlain and Corey Schroeder, Luke was full of light, love, and laughter. He was a deeply devoted and loving brother to Ryan and Melanie, with whom he shared a special and unbreakable bond. The three of them shared countless memories and moments together, especially at their cottage on Sand Lake where warm summer weekends were spent out on the water and family game nights where Luke always won brought laughter, adventure, and time together that they will forever hold close to their hearts.
Luke was an avid enjoyer of video games, anime, and music, and shared his passion for media with his many friends. He logged countless hours gaming throughout his childhood, adolescence, and adulthood, uniting strangers into longstanding friendships. He loved cats and enjoyed playing with and caring for our new kitten, Evangeline. He had planned to find a rescue kitty of his own. He spent most of his free time gaming and snacking on LeBron chips, Chex Mix, and sugar-free popsicles. He did enjoy some physical activity and was part of the climbing team at The University of Michigan guided by his brother's love for rock climbing and bouldering, a passion that lives on.
Luke was boundlessly curious and had a lifelong love of learning. He graduated from North Farmington High School in May 2021 and earned recognition as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Michigan in December 2025. He was extremely proud and appreciative of the opportunity to work in the lab of Dr. Kurt Hankenson, where he studied the mechanisms of bone regeneration to improve patient care. Luke was a research assistant beginning the pursuit of a PhD in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Wisconsin through the lab of Dr Chris Brace at the time of his passing. What he had already accomplished in his young life was extraordinary and it was only a preview of the impact he was meant to make.
We are left with grief beyond words and gratitude beyond measure for the 23 years we had with Lukey.
Luke is the loving son of Christine Chamberlain and Corey Schroeder; beloved brother of Ryan and Melanie; dearest grandson of Richard and Kathryn Schroeder, Kenneth and Shelley Chamberlain, Barbara Maxson and Jeffrey Shotwell; dearest nephew of many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, colleagues and cherished friends who will deeply miss him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, 12 pm, at the funeral home followed by a celebration of Luke's beautiful life from 1 to 5 pm.
