Obituary

Lorraine Reva Rasak, 91, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away on June 25, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Lorraine was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 9, 1932, to Louis and Nabeha Skory. Lorraine was the last of five siblings born to Lebanese parents who immigrated to America at the turn of the century. She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Lansing and worked for the State Corrections Department until her marriage to Dr. Mitchell L. Rasak, her childhood love, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lansing, MI on February 4, 1956. Their marriage of 58 years embodied a rare and true love. Devoted soulmates, they were seldom apart. Their love and respect for each other was felt by all and their example has influenced generations.

Lorraine will forever be remembered for her maternal, loving and calming presence, her enchanting beauty and her unjudging nature. Generous and devoted, Lorraine gave her love unconditionally to friends and family. Her home was open to everyone where she and her husband warmly fed the bodies and minds of all that entered.  An exceptional cook, she introduced Lebanese cuisine to her rural Detroit suburb while perfecting the recipes she grew up with. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles and playing word games, up until her vision declined.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell, in 2014 and granddaughter, Sheila-Mae Rasak Jr., in 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Mitchell (Beatrice) Skory, Mary Jane (Edward) Haddad, Lyman (Janet) Skory, and Josephine (Arthur) Nakfoor.

Lorraine is survived by her seven children: Michael (Lisa) Rasak, Dr. Christopher (Shiela) Rasak, Theresa (Michael) Sinacola, Renee Keogh, Matthew (Ann) Rasak, Dr. Mark (Tammy) Rasak, and John Rasak. She leaves behind her loving grandchildren: Carolyn (Jason) Rose, Michael (Taylor) Rasak, Jennifer (Torrey) Neiger, Julianna Rasak, Shazzney Rasak, Lorraine Rasak, Christopher Rasak, Theresa Rasak, Alexandra Rasak, John Rasak, Joseph Rasak, Andrea Sinacola, Michael Sinacola II, Teresa (Rowan) Burch, Anthony Sinacola, Michael (Maricela) Keogh, Ryan Keogh, Mackenzie (Vinay) Gadamsetti, Natalie (Dean) Turk, Mitchell A. Rasak, Matthew C. Rasak, Samantha Rasak, Mark Rasak II, Marissa Rasak, Megan Rasak, Alexander Rasak, Amanda Rasak, Jonathan Rasak, Sydney Rasak, Samara Rasak, and great-grandchildren: Madison and Peyton Rose, Alexander and Lucas Rasak, Amelia and Wesley Neiger, Joaquin and Eli Keogh, Christopher Burch, and Rohan Gadamsetti.
