Obituary

Loraine Guziatek (Cendrowski), age 90, of Northville, Michigan, passed away, peacefully, on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Dear daughter of the late Frank and Martha Cendrowski. Loving mother of Deborah (Robert) Karwan, Lynette (Brian) Trojniak, David, and Kevin. Cherished grandmother of twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Loraine is also survived by her sisters Patricia Amigliore, and Cheryl Zanetti, and is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Richard, sister, Joanne Ruth, brother Nobert Cendrowski and grandson Matthew Karwan.

Loraine was born, at home, on Oliver Street, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to Frank and Martha Cendrowski.  She was raised on the East side of Detroit in primarily Polish neighborhoods. She was the eldest of five children and attended Immaculate Conception Grade School followed by St. Ladislaus High School, having graduated in 1953. She started working at the age of 14 at Balkan Bakery, and at 16 years of age worked at Piotrowski Pharmacy. After high school, she worked at AAA (American Automobile Association) while also taking Travel School Classes.

In 1955, at the Graystone Ballroom, she met a nice, young, Polish, guy named Richard, from the west side of town.  A single dance led to three years of dating and marriage in 1958 with a honeymoon in the northeastern states.  They made their first home on Sharon Street, in Detroit, in an apartment building owned by John and Stella Guziatek, while working as landlords for the building.

Five years later, they bought the home of their dreams in Redford Township and moved with their 2 daughters. The family grew and eventually they were blessed with two sons.  Loraine had what it took to turn a house into a home and made each day special.  Loraine and Richard worked hard, side by side, to create a beautiful, warm and loving home that saw love, laughter, sorrow but always togetherness as a family!  In 2005, Loraine and Richard moved to a home in Northville, Michigan.

Loraine was in love with life and the promise of each new day!  She continued to voice that enthusiasm well into the months after her 90th birthday, stating daily, "I love being alive!" She valued God, family and education and always raised her children and grandchildren with those beliefs.  She urged them to strive to do their best, care for each other, and take time to stop and smell the roses!

In the eyes of her husband and children, Loraine was the most beautiful wife and mother! There's nothing she couldn't do- she was an awesome cook and baker---her Polish food was delicious and she loved to host family and friend gatherings!  Her garden was her haven- it was the very sign of life and family---nurtured, nudged and allowed to blossom!  She had an active family and was always there to volunteer –be it, the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, ballet recitals, St. John Bosco school lunch mom, St. Vincent de Paul, or various church activities.

She could always make you laugh, even on a bad day. She had a self-taught ability for home decorating and prided herself in keeping a meticulous home—yet the door was always open to family, friends and neighbors, to enjoy a meal, special treats, laughter, or just a warm hug.

Vacations were always a great time to pack up the car, and spend quality family time, seeing the world around us.  Loraine utilized her travel skills to arrange road trips throughout the United States and Canada with her husband and children.

Once the children were grown, Loraine returned to work for the Detroit Convention Center, where she got a chance to promote her hometown of Detroit and enjoy the camaraderie of her friends.

Her grandchildren became the light of her life, starting with the first in 1989. She has had the joy of welcoming 12 grandchildren that adore her: Danielle, Justin, Lauren, Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew, Ariana, Kristen, Amanda, Jonathan, Brandon, and Nicholas.  She was thrilled when she became G.G. (great grandmother) to Roland, Oliver, Caleb, and Tripp, in addition to many grand and great-grand furry friends.

Loraine, aka best Mom ever, knew when the Lord was coming and reached out for his hand --- to finally be at eternal peace.  We will miss her dearly, but she has achieved eternal rest.
