Lois Antoinette
Goeminne
Oct 23, 1942 — Dec 17, 2023
Farmington
Lois Goeminne, a devoted wife to the love of her life, George, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023. Their extraordinary journey began at a St. Patrick's party in Detroit, Michigan, culminating in a beautiful union at St. Juliana Catholic Church on October 19, 1963.
Lois was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Edmund and late Geraldine (Schulte) Bieke.
Lois and George, inseparable partners, proudly owned and operated "Party Place" in Flat Rock and "Dixie Party Place" in Monroe until their joyous retirement in 2001. Lois's generous spirit touched the lives of many through her volunteer work at CRISIS Pregnancy Center, St. Alexander's food pantry, and St. Frances Cabrini in Allen Park, where she taught catechism for children with special needs.
A selfless mother, Lois's concern for her children never wavered. Even in her passing, her focus remained on others, from crocheting blankets and crafts for future generations to expressing gratitude to hospital staff with a grace that reflected her lifelong habit of putting others first. She was a humble soul, apologizing for her own illness.
Lois, an avid traveler, explored the wonders of Hawaii, Alaska, the Holy Land, and Europe. The couple's journey began in Detroit, later settling in Allen Park before finding their home in Farmington.
Her role as a loving grandmother was highlighted by her skill as an event planner, organizing treasure hunts, Easter egg hunts, and games for her cherished granddaughters. Lois's creativity also shone through her talent as a skilled knitter and crocheter.
A woman of deep faith, Lois prayed the rosary daily and embraced her devotion to Catholicism. Her enduring love for George was evident in their harmonious marriage, free from any conflicts.
Lois Goeminne leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, George R. Goeminne; beloved children, Marie (Ken) Bonello and Carol (Mark) Casmer; adored granddaughters, Sydney (Caleb) Menna, Angela Bonello, Lindsey Casmer, and Jenna Bonello; and dear siblings, Phyllis Stover, Shirley Ziolkowski, and Loretta Zanger.
Lois was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Bill Stover, Dave Ziolkowski, and Jerry Zanger.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, with guests welcome from 2 – 8pm, with a rosary service beginning at 7pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 21, 2023, 11 am (in state at 10:30 am) at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Rd., Farmington.
Interment to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
