Obituary

Leonarda Ramos Oraiz, age 87, a devout and resilient soul whose journey began in the heart of the Philippines. Leonarda, a dedicated Catholic, found solace and strength in her unwavering faith, particularly in her devotion to Mother Mary and the Mother of Perpetual Help. Leonarda went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2023.

Leonarda was born in Leyte, Philippines, on November 6, 1936, the daughter of the late Alberto and Fortunata (Baculanta) Ramos.

A tenacious worker, Leonarda worked tirelessly for over two decades in Hong Kong as a domestic helper, sacrificing time and money to provide her children, whom she cherished beyond measure, with every opportunity in life. Her culinary prowess was legendary, with her Pancit and Biko becoming cherished family traditions that spoke of love and warmth.

Leonarda, an entrepreneur, ventured into the beauty supplies sales industry, embodying the spirit of a true matriarch who consistently sought ways to ensure her children had the best life possible. She was not only a provider but a pillar of support, nurturing and caring for her grandchildren with boundless affection.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Leonarda found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her green thumb transformed gardens into vibrant sanctuaries, and she reveled in friendly card games, the thrill of slot machines, and the excitement of horse racing.

A disciplinarian at heart, Leonarda instilled the importance of Catholic sacraments in her children, leaving an indelible mark on their characters. Her legacy is one of love, sacrifice, and an unshakable commitment to family values.

As we bid farewell to Leonarda, let us celebrate the remarkable life of a woman whose enduring spirit, generosity, and devotion have left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known her. May she find eternal peace in the arms of the divine, surrounded by the love that she so freely gave during her time on Earth.

Leonarda is survived by her loving daughters, Lizabella (Leopoldo) Panganiban, Rhodora (Camillo) Orais, Maria Cristina Oraiz-Abordo, Baby Leonarda (Alexander) Quetua; beloved grandchildren, Liza Angela (Buddy) Henika, Leopoldo Panganiban Jr., Angeline Francise Oraiz, Carlos Albert Orais, Fiona Angel Oraiz; great-grandchildren , Leo Alan Henika, and Francianna Leoline Oraiz; siblings, Dominico Ramos, and Salvacion Ramos.
