Leonard, of Farmington Hills, passed into eternal life on Friday morning, September 8, 2023. He was 92 years old.
Leonard was born January 9, 1931, in Detroit, to the late Joseph and Mary Koperski. He was a remarkable individual who was born as a first-generation American, served his country in the US Navy with pride, and had a deep and enduring love for his wife, Ada Ann. They enjoyed a happy marriage for 60 years and found the meaning of life through their loving relationship. Leonard was also a devoted father to three children, Carol, Gillian, and Jimmy. Moreover, he achieved unparalleled success at General Motors, largely due to his strong work ethic. Leonard's life story highlights his dedication to both his family and professional life, leaving a legacy of respect, love, and achievement.
Leonard was the beloved husband of the late Ada Ann; devoted father of Carol (the late Arthur Davis) Terry-Davis, Gillian Vanlandschoot, and the late James Kent; beloved and proud grandfather of Wesley Vanlandschoot, Dawn (Mat) Linske, and Darren (Stephanie) Terry; great-grandfather of Charlie, Norman and Oscar Linske, and Callianne Terry; and brother of Arthur (the late Madeline) Koperski, the late Henry Kent, and the late Virginia (the late Chester) Corpt.
Leonard's funeral ceremony is planned for Tuesday afternoon, September 12, at 4 pm, at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington (248-474-5200). Visitation Tuesday 1-4 pm.
Interment will take place Wednesday afternoon, September 13, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Memorial tributes are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society .
