Leah E.
Ruffin
Aug 23, 1943 — Jul 30, 2025
Livonia
Leah Ellen Ruffin, age 82, of Livonia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Born on August 23, 1943, in Detroit, Leah was the beloved daughter of Evert and Offie (Taylor) Parsley.
Leah built a career as a dedicated medical biller, but it was her vibrant personality and loving spirit that truly defined her life.
Known affectionately as "Lively Leah," she had a magnetic energy, a quick smile, and a fun-loving soul that made her a joy to be around. She was a devoted mother, fiercely loyal to her family and friends, and happiest when spending time with those she loved — especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Leah found joy in the simple pleasures of life: walking through her neighborhood, reminiscing about the good old days, and cruising around in her cherished 1965 yellow Mustang.
Leah's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a faithful member of both St. Martin Episcopal Church in Detroit and St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Livonia.
Though her life was full, she didn't really begin living until she met her longtime companion, Bernard Riley. Together, they made unforgettable memories traveling the world — including a special trip to Ireland to kiss the Blarney Stone and several joyful cruises that became cherished adventures.
Leah is survived by her children, Barbara (John) Kalil, David Jakobsson and Michelle Dart; grandchildren, John (Sharon) Kalil, Alex (Mo) Dart and Erika Dart; great grandchild, Valentine Dart; sister, Paula (Dennis) Gibson and long-time companion, Bernard Riley. Sadly, Leah was preceded in death by husbands, Roy E. Jakobsson and Charles Ruffin; and siblings, Charles, Nanette and Reba.
Leah's family will receive guests on Sunday, August 3, 2-8 pm, at the funeral home.
A funeral service is planned for Monday, August 4, 11 am, also at the funeral home.
Interment will immediately follow at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial tributes are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association .
Leah's legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, family, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
