Laura G. Anderson, born on February 13, 1929, in Jamestown, New York, peacefully departed this world on July 10, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Guarnieri and the late Philipa Cordaro.
Laura graduated from Jamestown High School in 1945. She was married to her loving husband, Norman Anderson on February 19, 1949. Her career as a receptionist/secretary in a law office showcased her dedication and professionalism.
A woman of warmth and charm, Laura was widely known and admired in Jamestown, Dearborn, Detroit, Wabash, Kalamazoo, and Farmington. Her popularity was a testament to the countless friendships she cultivated throughout her life.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Laura found joy in the kitchen, taking great pleasure in cooking and baking for friends and family. Her talents extended to flower arranging, where she lent her skills to create beautiful displays for churches, weddings, and individual sales. Additionally, Laura selflessly served as a volunteer at a hospital in Kalamazoo, brightening the days of visitors with her welcoming spirit and a cup of coffee.
Laura's commitment to community extended to her active involvement in the Westwood United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo. Whether organizing picnics, family gatherings, or celebrations like birthdays and vacations, Laura was a cornerstone of love and togetherness.
In celebrating Laura's life, we remember a woman whose kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared.
Laura is survived by her loving children, Terry McGrail, John (Linda) Anderson, and Jerri (Dennis) Oak; beloved grandchildren, Tammy (Rusty) Millard, John McGrail, Matthew (Jean) McGrail, Natalie (Kevin) Nunneley, Lauren Anderson, Matthew Anderson, and Michael Anderson; adored great-grandchildren, Christina (Brian) Morris, Craig Shooltz, Nick Shooltz, Aidan McGrail, Declan McGrail, Kevin Nunneley Jr., and Kelce Nunneley; great-great grandchildren, Liam Morris, Aaryn Morris, Hunter Morris; and sister, Josie Nicosia.
Sadly, Laura is preceded in death by loving husband, Norman Anderson (D.2001); son-in-law, Robert McGrail; and siblings, Millie Steppe, Teresa Genco, and James Guarnieri.
Laura's family will receive friends Sunday, August 11, 2-5 pm at the funeral home. A memorial service will take place also on Sunday, August 11, 3 pm, also at the funeral home.
Donations may be directed to Alzheimer's Association or Westwood United Methodist Church to further honor Laura's life.
An inurnment will take place Monday, August 12, Noon at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, Michigan 49012.
