Obituary

In  loving memory of Larry, a remarkable man known as Mr. Fix-It and hailed as one of the world's most kindhearted souls. Larry's life was an extraordinary tapestry of talents and passions that touched the hearts of all who knew him. Larry was born on May 5, 1944, on the family farm in Hamilton County, Nebraska, the son of the late George and late Anna (Hiebert) Peters.

A skilled machinist by trade, Larry's hands crafted more than just precision parts—they wove together a legacy of ingenuity and generosity. His passion for target shooting garnered awards, and his craftsmanship reached new heights as he proudly created two award-winning muzzle loaders. Post-retirement, Larry's garage machine shop became a haven where he skillfully resurrected obsolete parts, embodying the spirit of a true Mr. Fix-It.

Larry's love for the outdoors was boundless, shared joyfully with his beloved wife Lu. Together, they embraced mountain biking, canoeing, and hiking adventures, nurturing dreams of exploring national parks. Their walks with all three dogs in Rotary Park's nature trails were a testament to the simple joys they cherished together.

Faith was a significant part of who Larry was. Larry's devotion was not only felt through his role as a deacon but also in his commitment to the handyman ministry for seniors, where he selflessly used his fixing talents to aid others. His melodious gifts echoed through the church choir, resonating from the strings of his guitar, piano keys, and the soulful notes of his banjo.

As a loving father to two and a cherished grandfather, Larry's legacy is one of warmth, compassion, and a tireless dedication to making the world a better place—one fixed part and one harmonious note at a time. His memory will forever linger in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing the world's most kindhearted Mr. Fix-It, Larry.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, LuDean Peters; beloved children, Jennifer (Jason) Iannone and Steven (Tatsiana) Peters; adored grandchildren, Dana (Jerry) Dillion, Matthew Iannone, Daniel Peters, Michael Peters, and Sophia Peters; and sister-in-law, Elda Peters. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Marvin (Elda) Peters, Joan  Peters, and Richard (Loretta) Peters.

A memorial service will take place on December 28, 2023, at Legacy Church of Novi, 45301 W. 11 Mile Rd., Novi, MI, 48375, at 11 am (Memorial gathering beginning at 9:45 am).
