Kimberly A.
Weigold, "Kim"
Aug 27, 1962 — Sep 14, 2023
Farmington
Kimberly A. "Kim" Weigold passed away peacefully at Beaumont Farmington Hills Hospital on September 14 after a 19-month battle with breast and neuroendocrine cancer. She was 61 years old.
Kim was born Kimberly A. Gunn in Muskegon, Michigan to Kyren and Virginia Gunn. She attended Muskegon Catholic Central High School followed by 2 years at Muskegon Community College. A Social Work degree at Western Michigan University completed Kim's education.
Kim's life adventure continued when she moved to the Detroit area to work for the Social Security Administration. From there, Kim changed gears and became a computer software trainer. She traveled the country teaching new clients how to use the hospital pharmacy software her company sold. During this time, with the help of a mutual friend, she met the love of her life, Jerry Weigold.
Kim and Jerry married on October 26, 1991, and remained together until the end of Kim's life (32 years). They traveled for the first 5 years of their marriage, after which Kim again shifted gears in her career to raise a family. She had two beautiful children, Jack, and Kelli, whom she bragged about constantly. Kim finished her career working as a contract employee for Farmington Public Schools.
Kim was EXTREMELY outgoing and loved listening to people tell their stories, as well as sharing her own. She and Jerry enjoyed a great life and many, many friends in their adopted hometown of Farmington.
Kim is survived by her husband Jerry, her son Jack of Orlando, Florida, and daughter Kelli who resides in Madison, Wisconsin. Kim is also survived by her sisters, Barb Sherman and Anne-Marie (Jim) White, and her "bonus family", Bill (Dawn) Nelson and Mary (Randy) Schaab. Her parents and brother (Pat) predeceased her.
The family will receive guests at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in downtown Farmington, Michigan from 2-8pm on Thursday, September 21.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Road, Farmington, Michigan at 11:00am on Friday, September 22. She will lie in state at the church from 10:30am to 11:00am.
Memorial tributes are suggested to the Michigan Community Visiting Nurses Association Hospice (www.vna.org), and University Christian Outreach-Grand Rapids (Mikayla Smith, Kim's preferred Missionary).
