Kaye Michaels, age 84, of Southfield, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Kaye was born July 11, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Marion (Marcy) and Arthur Garside. She met the love of her life, Matthew Michaels Sr., in 1957, and the two fell immediately in love. Kaye and Matthew were married in 1958, and from this unity four dear children were born. Kaye and Matt built their beautiful Southfield home together in 1975 where they raised their beloved family.

Kaye was known for having a fierce and devoted love for her family. She had a positive outlook on life and taught her family to be grateful for all their blessings. She had a great sense of humor, loved collecting antiques, and enjoyed going to live music events with her husband and friends.

Kaye is survived by her dearest children, Wendy (Kent) Stine, Steven (Michelle) Michaels, Joel Michaels; beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Kelly, Julia, Natalie, William; dear great-granddaughter, Berkleigh Stine; and her brother, Art (Carol) Garside.

Sadly, Kaye was preceded in death by her loving husband, the late Matthew Michaels Sr. on 11/01/2011, and dear son, Matt Michaels Jr. on 6/7/2004.

The family has planned a memorial gathering Friday, September 23, from 1-3 pm, at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, 23720 Farmington Rd., downtown Farmington.

Memorial service will take place Friday, September 23, 3 pm, also at the funeral home.

Memorial tributes suggested to Wayne State University Jazz Big Band-Jazz Studies Program or Solanus Casey Center for Underserved.
