Roberta Kay Ross (Mangan), 88, of Novi, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025.

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on July 23, 1937, Kay remained in Ann Arbor following high school and attended the University of Michigan, where she first met her eventual husband, Don. Music was a very important part of her life, starting college as a music major but then ultimately switching to elementary education before graduation. She played the piano and organ in church and as an accompanist for many years, and at one time was teaching more than 30 students to play piano. She went on to earn a master's degree in special education and taught in the Farmington School System until her retirement in 1997.

Kay was known for her passion for her church and for her family, serving as the family's unofficial genealogist. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was also a voracious reader and learner. She went "all in" to learn something new that was important to her and quickly became a subject matter expert on numerous things, particularly in history and medicine.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Don; her children, Jim (Cindy), Phil (Katherine), and Dan (Christy); grandchildren, Sydney, Lexie, Claire (Jodi), Justin (Mary), Adam, Logan, Paxton, Brandon (Kailee), and Nichole; and four great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held for Kay on Saturday, August 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington, Michigan, with service to follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Samaritan's Purse.
